Foundations of Professional Nursing

Catalog description

This fundamental course introduces students to the essential principles of nursing science and the multifaceted roles of the professional nurse. Students will explore applying nursing theories (e.g., Watson’s Theory of Human Caring) to provide safe, person-centered care in structured settings. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills, effective communication, and the application of the nursing process. Students will explore the impact of human diversity, health, and illness on nursing care and will understand the importance of evidence-based practice and interprofessional collaboration. Accountability, commitment, and active participation in the learning process are emphasized. Forty-five (45) lecture hours. Pre-requisite(s): NUR 2110 Corequisite(s): NUR 2122 , NUR 2123
