This foundational mathematics course is designed to strengthen students’ essential math skills necessary for success in health sciences and everyday problem-solving. The course emphasizes mathematical reasoning, number sense, and computational fluency. Key topics include operations with real numbers, ratios, proportions, percentages, basic algebra, linear equations, graphing, measurement, unit conversions, and introductory statistics. Real-world health-related applications are integrated throughout to support quantitative literacy in nursing and allied health professions. Students develop confidence in applying math concepts to clinical contexts and data interpretation. Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
