Catalog description
This foundational chemistry course is designed specifically for students entering the health sciences. It introduces basic concepts in general, organic, and biological chemistry, focusing on their application to human physiology, pharmacology, and healthcare. Students will explore topics such as atomic structure, chemical bonding, solutions, acids and bases, and the chemistry of biomolecules. Emphasis is placed on understanding chemical processes relevant to the human body, medication mechanisms, and clinical lab values. Through interactive lectures, problem solving, and case-based scenarios, students will develop the scientific literacy and quantitative reasoning necessary for safe and effective nursing and allied health practice. Thirty (30) lecture hours. Corequisite(s): CHE 1112 , CHE 1111L Chemistry for Health Sciences/Laboratory
