Principles of OT in Physical Health

Catalog description

This course examines the biological/psychological/social models of physical health and wellness, focusing on the common diagnoses and pathologies most often encountered in occupational therapy (OT) practice. Also introduced are examples of assessments used for various diagnoses and pathologies, especially those of the musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary systems. Students will be introduced to occupational therapy interventions commonly used in physical health and emerging practice settings through discussion and hands-on experience within the lab setting. Students will explore occupational therapy treatment and other occupational performance-based interventions within the scope, roles, frames of reference, and practice guidelines related to physical health and wellness.
