Catalog description

Introduction to the field of Exceptional Education. Includes history and current laws, special education processes and procedures, effective communication, techniques for collaboration and consultation with general and special education teachers and parents, and characteristics of students with exceptionalities such as Specific Learning Disabilities (i.e. Reading, Writing, Math, Dyslexia); ADHD/ADD; Speech/Language Disorders; Physical Impairments; Autism; and Developmental Disabilities. Also includes current and relevant trends in special education, technology, and effective instructional strategies and resources that meet the needs of learners with exceptionalities.
