MLAB 1101 is an introduction to the functions and duties of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), the significance of licensure, certification and registration, accreditation, laboratory safety, infection control, medical ethics, quality assurance, an overview of each area of the clinical laboratory, and professional standards of the medical laboratory technologist. Students will also learn basic techniques of venipuncture through lecture and/or practice in student laboratory sessions. Successful completion of this course with “C” or better is required for graduation. Prerequisite(s): Must be taken concurrently with MLAB 1102
