Catalog description

ENGL 2290 is an introduction to the creation, craft, and collaborative endeavor of creative writing. This is a multi-genre course that introduces the basic concepts and skills necessary for upper-level workshops. For writers, there are three pillars that hold the creative architecture in place: reading, writing, and participating in a community. This is not just a credo for the course; it outlines a discipline that all serious writers pursue, regardless of experience or accomplishment. To that end, we will read, we will write, we will workshop, and we will challenge ourselves to experience (and re-experience) the world anew, through language. Whether you're an aspiring writer or simply taking 2290 as a respite from your major studies, this is your end of the bargain. I will do everything I can to make you better readers, better thinkers, better writers, and better lookers (in the active sense)-that is my end of the bargain. Welcome! Prerequisite note: In order to enroll in ENGL 2290, you must have already completed ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 with grades of "C" or better.
