To possess a strong understanding of curriculum, it is important to be well grounded in the character of curriculum, its history, and the theories associated with curriculum and the processes for developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum. It is also necessary to understand the impact of curriculum on student learning and its relationship to student assessment. Curriculum decision- making is a process, which is not only academic but also social and political, and a thorough understanding of the process is essential to successful curriculum construction.
