Speech and Language Disorders

Catalog description

This course provides educators with an overview of speech and language disorders. Participants will examine language acquisition, language development, and the influence of language and communication disorders on children's literacy learning. In addition, participants will explore various hearing, speech, and language disorders as well as appropriate instructional strategies, accommodations, and assessment methods for students. Professionals, resources, and organizations that provide support for students and caregivers, and the use of augmentative and alternative communication will also be explored.
