Catalog description

This course explores microbiology with an integrated laboratory component, focusing on the cellular biology and classification of microorganisms, microbial metabolism and genetics, and factors influencing microbial growth. Topics include microbial pathogenicity, interactions with the human immune system, and the characteristics of microbial diseases in various body systems. Students will also study antimicrobial therapies, disease control, and diagnostic techniques.
