This course explores models of personality theory, psychotherapy, and counseling practice, including psychodynamic, affective, cognitive behavioral, humanistic, interpersonal, and systems theory. It incorporates evidence-based practices and varied cultural perspectives allowing students to establish a strong theoretical foundation as the basis of clinical practice. MFCC 510CA Multicultural Counseling 3 This course examines counseling approaches within a recovery-oriented care model, exploring cultural development and cross-cultural interactions. It addresses psychological, therapeutic, community, and health implications, with a specific focus on California's varied populations. Emphasis will be placed on integrating awareness, knowledge, and skills to effectively counsel individuals from various backgrounds, considering factors such as age, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliations, gender identities, sexual orientations, physical/mental conditions, social status, and socioeconomic standing.
