Catalog description

This course focuses on defining assessment and evaluation and the use of effective practices with children from birth through age 8. The fundamentals of early childhood assessment, including the types, purposes, and principles will be discussed. Teacher candidates will explore the importance of reliability and validity of assessment, how to interpret assessment data, and the use of assessment in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Emphasis is placed on using assessment to inform instruction, differentiating assessment for children with special needs, and strategies for communicating and collaborating with stakeholders about assessment.
