Family, Community, and Media Relations

Catalog description

This course focuses on the role of the school principal as a catalyst in developing and maintaining relationships with families, business and community groups, and the media to support a school's vision and programs. Candidates examine the importance of public relations, effective communication practices, and strategies for identifying a community's resources, interests, and needs. Candidates will also analyze ethical considerations for working with external stakeholders and ways to build business partnerships that benefit their school. In addition, candidates will explore the use of AI in generating communications and develop a plan to increase engagement between their school, the community, and the media.
