Women of Color Feminisms

In this course, we will center and explore the theoretical contributions of feminists of color, contemporary experiences of women of color in the U.S., and how the category women of color has been mobilized as a social and political identity. In our analyses, we will pay close attention to the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, class, nation, and other categories of power. Topics include cultural representations, intimacy/families, sexual violence, economic justice, the carceral state, and immigration. Lastly, we will examine strategies of resistance and solidarity for social change to support marginalized communities.
