In this course, we will read and discuss Don Quijote from start to finish, studying the Cervantes masterpiece from a contemporary perspective. We will focus on its sociopolitical, historical, and literary context while incorporating and adapting critical approaches to our modern sensibilities. We will pay particular attention to the overlapping genres in the text, analyzing its mythical and symbolic repercussions. Emphasis will be placed on the construction of the principal characters, considering themes like law, the life of marginalized people, urban and rural spaces, sexuality, and the roles of violence and bodies. The course is taught in Spanish.
