Homelessness in America

This course aims to inform students about the causes, history, and consequences of homelessness in the United States, with a focus on ethnographic accounts of the day to day lives of people experiencing homelessness. It also examines barriers to exiting homelessness, and existing programs and housing policies for addressing homelessness. We will critically evaluate these studies and explore how public policy could address these issues. Throughout this course, you will become more knowledgeable about homelessness in the United States and gain the tools to participate in the ongoing debate about how to ameliorate homelessness and the problems that surround this issue.
