Catalog description

This course is designed for students enrolled in the Science BS/MBA IUG degree program. It will provide an opportunity for students to become familiar with common key business terms and concepts that will be useful for the required co-ops, internships, and the transition to the Smeal MBA part of this dual-degree program. During the course, instructors will introduce and reinforce concepts in supply chain management, finance, strategic planning, marketing, project management, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship. In addition, students will hone their people-oriented skills associated with leadership, organizational dynamics and modern management. The course will improve students' abilities to formulate and present strategic ideas as well as communicate effectively as a leader and team member. The course will augment the integrative learning that was established in the first-year seminar and extracurricular Science BS/MBA enrichment events. The course is designed to facilitate continued student development as self-directed learners, and it will advance student perspectives of professional and career development.
