Catalog description

This course offers an interdisciplinary approach to popular music, blending creative practices with critical perspectives. Students will explore socio-historical contexts that shape popular music's production, distribution, and consumption while actively engaging in music-making and its production practices. The course fosters an understanding of popular music as art and market through active listening, YouTube appreciation, learning pop music by ear, notation, improvisation, within a context of collective creativity, fieldwork, and sociological inquiry.
