Catalog description

This course includes weekly composition lessons and seminar meeting for music composition minors. Music Composition Minors will meet weekly with their instructor to complete a series of original music composition projects for a variety of instrumental configurations. This will cover a variety of compositional topics including new and traditional concepts of form, notation, instrumentation and orchestration, melodic and non-tonal writing, improvisation, process-oriented techniques, ensemble logistics and contemporary means of harmonic control. In addition, students will participate in a weekly seminar meeting which will include a variety of events, such as lectures, master classes, group composition projects, guest composers, and student presentations.
