Catalog description

Step-by-Step Korean 4 is the final course in a series of four two-credit Korean language courses ( KOR 11 , KOR 12 , KOR 21 , and KOR 22 ), designed for students who prefer a slower pace or have demanding schedules. This course is for students who have successfully completed Step-by-Step Korean 3 ( KOR 21 ) or an equivalent course. It covers the second half of the material in KOR 2 : Level One Korean B (4 credits) and focuses on mastering elementary grammatical structures for more detailed descriptions and explanations through aural-oral practice. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand main ideas and supporting details when listening to conversations on familiar topics, and they will be able to carry on everyday conversations with greater confidence. Students will also be able to comprehend short, simple written texts and express themselves in writing using a series of related sentences about personal or familiar subjects. The course helps learners progress toward intermediate-low proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, students will continue to explore cultural aspects and everyday customs in Korea to develop socio-culturally appropriate communication skills.
