Catalog description

Interested in learning Korean through music? This one-credit, topic-oriented course offers a fun and accessible way to explore the Korean language using popular K-pop songs. Whether you're a fan of K-pop or someone who simply loves music, this course is designed for students of all backgrounds and proficiency levels. Taught in Korean and English in a seminar format, students will learn Korean vocabulary, grammar, and cultural nuances embedded in the lyrics of K-pop songs. Through weekly readings, class discussions, writing assignments, and presentations, students will also explore the cultural aspects of K-pop and its global impact. No prior knowledge of K-pop or the Korean language is required-just a curiosity to learn and an interest in the power of music as a tool for language acquisition. By the end of the course, students will have gained both language skills and a deeper appreciation of contemporary Korean culture.
