Catalog description

This course is interdisciplinary, integrating knowledge domains in humanities and health-and-wellness by exploring the global history of martial arts films and its physical and formal practice. Students will learn about the cultural impact of martial arts as reflected in popular entertainment (movies), and engage in the introductory practice of a particular martial art (depending on the particular instructor) which will serve as a means of lifelong physical fitness, personal defense, and a means of integrating mind, body and spiritual well-being (a classic component of the martial arts).
