Catalog description
This course provides students who are interested in a career in long-term care to gain an operational knowledge of managing personal care residential facilities. Because the course is designed to meet part of the requirements to be certified as an administrator for personal care residential facilities in Pennsylvania, students will be required to receive 100 contact hours of instruction. The course incorporates numerous theories, models, illustrations, and examples to help the student grasp the complexities of managing a residential long-term care facility. Upon course completion students will be able to: Discuss the broad range of operational issues related to the field of personal care home administration; Describe the rules and regulations that impact personal care home operations; and Recognize the professional development needs of personal care home administrators. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the Pennsylvania Personal Care Home Administration Competency Exam which will enable the student can step into a position as a personal care home administrator, assistant administrator, or trainee administrator.
