Catalog description

This course introduces students to literature written in German in the twentieth century, including by authors living in German-speaking countries such as Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, but also by writers in exile or from outside of these regions. Though organizing genres and/or topics may vary, students will learn to read texts in relation to (and as a way better to understand) the dramatically shifting social and political contexts of their production. All texts and discussions are in English.
