Forest and Conservation Economics

Catalog description
This course focuses on economic and financial concepts and tools used in managing forests and natural resources. Specifically, students will: a) use financial tools including cost-benefit analysis to analyze forest investments, b) recognize forest-related business operations and management issues, c) apply economic principles to forest and natural resource management decisions including environmental and nonmarket valuation methods, and d) discuss current issues in forest management and economics such as climate change, bioenergy and tropical deforestation. Students will carry out a case study of a forest-related business.
