Wildland Fire Management

Catalog description

This course will provide the fundamentals of wildland fire behavior and effects as they relate to natural resource management. The role of fuels, weather, and topography on fire behavior will be covered in depth, and fire behavior and effects models will be used. The ecological role of fire will be examined through the concept of fire regimes and fire adaptations, and students will be introduced to prescribed burning as a land management tool.
