Clark Scholars Engineering Equity Seminar

This seminar is open only to students within the Clark Scholars Program, a program built upon four thematic pillars: business and entrepreneurship, leadership, social equity and global citizenship, and community engagement. A comprehensive focus on these areas ensures that Clark Scholars make a broader impact on their community and that they are prepared to take on roles as socially responsible innovators and leaders in the industries in which they pursue their careers. In this way, they are excellently positioned to tackle some of the world's toughest challenges. To be an engineer of positive change means to understand the history and complexity of the world in which we work. In the Engineering Equity Seminar course, you will learn what it means to be an inclusive and equitable engineer, and how that is linked to engineering infrastructure and design. Through speakers across academia, industry, and the community, you will also learn how engineering influences society and vice versa, and the experiences of marginalized groups within the field. All along the way, group discussions on course topics will strengthen community amongst the Clark Scholars. A final project will test Scholars' knowledge of concepts learned.
