Catalog description

Sound Design for Digital Arts and New Media Production is a digital art course that introduces students to the fundamental techniques of creating compelling sound design experiences for art and design projects. This course provides an in-depth studio experience in which students will learn sound synthesis techniques, sound spatialization, the use of sound effects, and how to apply these skills to their art and design projects. This course includes both pre-recorded sound creation and real-time sound generation for digital arts. This course also covers the intriguing field of data sonification, teaching how to transform data into sound. By the end of the semester, students will have developed the technical skills to create art and design projects that engage audiences through both visual and sound elements.
