The Language of Video is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about the why and how of visual storytelling, with an emphasis on short form, online-content in various forms for different audiences and goals. Students will learn why certain production choices are made through a variety of analysis and critique assignments and will then apply the new knowledge to their own produced assignments. Skills acquired in this course include understanding different modes of storytelling, video production language, tools of production, and ethical considerations in production, as well as how to create content using their cellphones, critical analysis of current media forms, and group collaboration.
