Software Engineering Principles

Catalog description

This course is an introduction to software engineering concepts and principles, project management, and problem-solving for computer science. In this course, students will navigate the entire software development lifecycle and will be familiarized with: problem-solving methodologies for computer science; requirement engineering; project management for CS projects; risk management; software engineering processes; tools and methods for analysis and design of software; methods for testing and evaluating software; quality assurance; ethical and security issues in software engineering. This course gives the student the knowledge and skills needed to successfully develop non-trivial software systems, exploring also social and ethical issues pertinent to software engineering, including privacy, security, intellectual property, responsibility, and social justice.
