Ecological Importance of Native Plants

This course will focus on the ecological and environmental significance of native plants. The course will cover key topics such as plant ecology, biodiversity, ecosystem services, soil health, and habitat restoration. Students may have the option to participate in hands-on activities, including designing, planting, and maintaining native plant gardens either on campus or in local community spaces. Alongside the optional garden work, students will also develop educational materials to promote the benefits of native plants, emphasizing their role in supporting pollinators, soil conservation, and climate resilience. This experience will deepen students' understanding of plant biology, ecology, and environmental science, while offering practical skills in developing educational materials and project management.
