Genetics and Personalized Medicine

Catalog description

In this course, students will explore the human genome, its variation, and how genomic information informs modern medicine. Topics include genome sequencing, genetic variation among human populations, the genomics of aging, the effects of parental age on mutations, cancer genomics, personalized medicine, the relationship between the microbiome and disease, and ethical considerations in genomics. Students will engage with current research, analyze case studies, and discuss emerging issues in medical genomics. Students may not enroll in both Biol 408 and BMB 485 .
