A study of development and physiological processes at the organismic level. Biol 244 is an introductory course that provides an understanding of major unifying principles as they apply to the development and physiological mechanisms utilized by animals and plants. In lecture, a comparative approach will be taken in the examination of reproduction, development, and physiology primarily at the organismal level. BIOL 244 will help students to integrate concepts ranging from molecular and cellular events to the whole organism. Further, BIOL 244 provides the foundation on which students further their study of plant and animal physiology and development. Students who have passed BIOL 240W or BIOL 240M may not enroll in this course.
