ANTH 290
Impact Anthropology
Pennsylvania State University-World Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In Anth 290: Impact Anthropology, students learn what they can do with anthropology and how to do it. From interactive coursework and guest speakers, students learn how to translate key anthropological skills to research, community engagement, and outreach, across sectors like academia, government, industry, and nonprofits. Students also learn by doing, collaborating with organizations in research and applications. By the end of the semester, students will have gained real-world research, community-engagement, and outreach experience, created and built up their resumes, networked with experts and collaborators, and learned how to translate their anthropological skills, manage a team, and deliver a product.
