Clinical Practicum I

Catalog description
This is the first in a series of six clinical practicum courses. Learners will enter the clinical environment and apply peri-anesthetic concepts and didactic knowledge into clinical anesthetic practice. Emphasis is placed on orientation to the anesthetic environment, patient safety, vigilance, communication, preoperative assessment and evaluation, comprehensive equipment preparation, and prevention of complications. The creation of tailored, patient-specific anesthetic management plans is complemented by experiential learning, allowing application of skills and knowledge learned in the didactic curriculum. Clinical competency is assessed through performance in the clinical environment.
