NURS 851A
General Linear Modeling in Health Research: Foundations, Approaches, and Applications A
Pennsylvania State University-Mont Alto Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In this course students will learn the foundations of general and generalized linear models in health science research. The course will introduce students to generalized linear modeling covering core concepts, assumptions, and examples from nursing research and related health sciences. Students will learn the skills to explore and evaluate common health data sources such as electronic medical records, vital statistics registries, primary and secondary data sets (e.g. clinical trials, Health and Retirement Study) for use in generalized linear modeling analyses. Students will also develop the skills to evaluate generalized linear modeling results within their chosen nursing areas and effectively communicate their analysis findings.
