Catalog description
This seminar is a graduate-level reading course in Ancient Greek. The primary aim of the course will be to hone students' ability to read and appreciate selections of Greek poetry and prose. In addition, students will read and evaluate secondary scholarship in preparation for a final research project. Possible authors include but are not limited to: Homer, Hesiod, Sappho & the Lyric poets, Herodotus, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Thucydides, Plato, Aristotle, Callimachus, Apollonius of Rhodes, the New Testament, Josephus, Plutarch, and Lucian.
