HPA 801
Organization Behavior in Health Services Organizations
Pennsylvania State University-Greater Allegheny Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course examines organizational behavior and theory and its application from a leadership/managerial perspective. Emphasis will be placed on the application of material to the context of health care organizations, its services and people. The course will cover the behavior and management of groups and individuals within organizations, as well as the design, management and leadership of the organization as a whole. Special emphasis will be placed on how these different "levels" (e.g. individuals vs. groups vs. the organization as a whole) of managerial activity link together and complement, influence and constrain each other. Innovative techniques and methods for supporting, advancing, and evolving organizations will be discussed and applied to health care based cases. The course material will offer students the opportunity to identify tools that will assist them in leading health care organizations now and into the future.
