Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with a working knowledge of issues surrounding the design, evaluation and use of information systems in the health services sector. The course uses discussions, cases, and projects to lead the student to think critically about the management of Information Systems (IS) in the health care setting. Students do not learn how to design health IS components. Rather students seek to understand the components of IS, how IS are used to improve operational effectiveness, analytics, and current topics in IS. In brief, this course provides foundations of IS for supporting clinical services, patient safety, quality improvement, and administrative functions in health services management.
