Through course materials, assignments, and class discussion, this course aims to provide a critical understanding of a variety of types of crime victimization-personal victimization, property victimization, child and elder abuse, intimate partner violence, and victimization in specific domains, such as schools, campuses, and the internet. We will explore the trends associated with these various experiences and potential explanations for why risk of experiencing victimization varies across individuals and communities. The course also aims to provide an understanding of the consequences for those experiencing victimization and the policies or programs aimed at preventing victimization.
