Catalog description
This course explores the literature, methods, and interpretive debates on issues related to historic sites, museums, and other public venues that focus on the American past. It will also consider broader issues relating to memory, inheritance, stewardship, and the production of history. Readings, discussion, lectures, and site visits will address the concepts of public heritage, the interpretation of the past (and present) for diverse audiences, and the application of historical methods to a broad range of projects and institutions.
