Patient Care Technician Practicum

Catalog description

This course is a credit worthy clinical experience that will provide the students with the ability to transfer knowledge and skill sets from the classroom to the clinical setting through direct patient care in the acute care setting environment. Students will be supervised by a qualified clinical instructor that has had recent clinical experience in the acute care setting. Students will have to complete mandatory HIPAA education, obtain required clearances, provide a urine drug screen, and complete required health testing. Students will gain experience with the electronic health record and its function in improving patient care outcomes and will work alongside experienced members of the healthcare team.
