Clinical Practicum in Nursing Education

Catalog description

Focus on the nurse educator role through application of educational theory, teaching strategies, assessment, and evaluation methods within various educational settings including the learning laboratory, simulation laboratory, and clinical setting. Emphasis on clear and effective communication skills and attention to diverse learner needs. Students will complete a total of 90 hours of hands-on clinical experience in the nurse educator role at an educational facility of their choice. Forty-two hours will be completed in a learning laboratory, with a minimum of 12 hours dedicated to simulation and 48 hours will be completed in a clinical setting. Students will be required to secure a master’s prepared nurse preceptor to complete the clinical practicum learning experience.
