Catalog description

Study and application of standards-compliant structured cabling systems, covering the installation, certification, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, with a focus on the optical fiber system used in local area networks (LANs). Study includes an overview of structured cabling systems; an in-depth review of current ANSI/TIA and ISO/IEC industry standards (including, but not limited to, ANSI/TIA-526, ANSI/TIA-568, ANSI/TIA-569, ANSI/TIA-606, and ANSI-J-STD-607); discussion and hands-on experience with the rough-in, termination, certification, and administration of unshielded and shielded twisted-pair and optical fiber cabling systems; and the troubleshooting practices used to isolate and resolve faults.
