Catalog description

Focus on the basic understanding of signs used in communicating using American Sign Language (ASL). Topics include basic fingerspelling techniques as well as the basic structures, non-manual markers, and vocabulary of ASL. Emphasis will be placed on developing proper expressive and receptive skills. Additional topics to be discussed include: the origins of signs, a brief history of sign language, and Deaf culture.
