Introduction to the design, drawing, manufacturing engineering, and cost considerations of creating weldments. Topics include engineering graphics review, estimation of welding costs, production considerations needed in design and fabrication of weldments, tolerance dimensioning, mechanical and section properties of materials, load and stress analysis, and code requirements for welding. Codes covered include American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1, American Petroleum Institute (API) 1104, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section 9. Fall Only.
