Catalog description

This course introduces students to theories and methods in dance. This active studio class explores dance through political, cultural, philosophical, and aesthetic lenses to consider dance as a distinct mode of analysis and practice. What makes a dance? How does dance ask and answer questions? Drawing on choreographic analysis, embodied research, and archival studies, this course asks students to engage in a number of dance forms to explore the meanings, makings, and power of dance, dances, and dancing.
