Intermediate Quechua II

Catalog description

Quechua, the language of the Inca Empire and still spoken by approximately 8 million people throughout the Andes, is the most spoken indigenous language in the Americas. The program focuses on the development of written and oral communicative abilities, as well as comprehension skills, in Quechua through an interactive activity-based approach. This intermediate-level II Quechua is a continuation of the Intermediate-level I Quechua. The course Intermediate-level II emphasizes that students acquire skills such as listening, speaking, writing, and reading texts in Quechua, and deepen their knowledge of Andean culture in a communicative context. Assessment is based on the capacity that students show mastery of the four language skills as well as the understanding of Andean culture. It is also based on the use of their previous knowledge. Lectures will be delivered in English and Quechua.
