NURS 8560
DNP Project 2
University of Pennsylvania · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In this second Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project course, focus is given to the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based change and dissemination of practice scholarship. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, students execute the projects previously approved in N8550: DNP Project 1. They lead project teams, guide project implementation, evaluate and respond to influencing factors, systematically collect and analyze outcome data, interpret results, and develop recommendations for implementation enhancements and sustainability in the healthcare setting. Scholars produce a final paper describing the results of the evidence-based practice change and discussion of their findings, implications for practice and policy, and sustainability plan. Dissemination of scholarship is multi-format, inclusive of innovative dissemination streams, and shared with varied audiences within and outside of the academic setting with priority to return the results to the healthcare organization or setting where the project was implemented. Key competencies emphasized throughout the project’s execution include leadership, time management, resource leveraging, communication, and collaboration. The DNP project serves as the culmination of the degree requirements, demonstrating the student’s ability to conduct scholarly inquiries and lead change by applying nursing knowledge and practice scholarship to improve outcomes at the local or system level.
