Principles of Contextual Inquiry and Implementation Planning

Catalog description

This course introduces DNP students to the fields of implementation science and human centered design with an emphasis on health equity. The course focuses on understanding end-user needs, problem identification, understanding and assessing context, and planning for implementation of evidence-based interventions into real world healthcare settings. Students will learn from various foundational frameworks to develop approaches and skills to better understand complex problems from the perspective of key persons and end-users, identify potential implementation barriers, facilitate implementation, and ensure appropriate implementation and clinical outcomes are measured. Emphasis is placed on practical application, implementation strategy selection, outcomes evaluation, and sustainability of evidence-based practices. Students will be required to work closely with their identified project site throughout the duration of the course.
